Formula:
Chance Percentage = (Base Rate ± Adjustments) × Selectivity Scale

Steps in the Formula:

  1. Base Rate:

    • Your starting chance is based on the school’s acceptance rate.
      Example: A school with a 30% acceptance rate gives you a baseline chance of 30%.

  2. Adjustments:

    • Your profile is compared to the school’s averages for key metrics:

      • GPA:
        +15% for above-average; -15% for below-average.

      • Test Scores:
        +10% for exceeding averages; -10% for lower scores.

      • Extracurriculars:
        +10% for strong activities like leadership or awards.

      • Other Factors:
        +5% for legacy or in-state status.

  3. Selectivity Scaling:

    • Adjustments are capped for fairness based on the school’s selectivity:

      • Highly Selective (<10% acceptance rate): Max chance = 75%.

      • Moderately Selective (10%-30% acceptance rate): Max chance = 90%.
